Ministry of Water and Energy Signs an agreement with Japan’s PMS Organization for the Implementation of Several Water Development Projects

Honorable Mullah Mohammad Younus Akhundzada, Minister of Water and Energy, signed an agreement with representative of Japan’s PMS Organization for the financing and implementation of several water development projects with a total investment of about Two million US $.
Honorable Minister, at the signing ceremony of this agreement, expressed his appreciation for the cooperation and support of the PMS Organization, and added that the agreement marks an important milestone in the development of water infrastructure, the effective management of water resources, and the improvement of agricultural conditions in that province.
Based on this agreement, above mention Organization will finance and implement water development projects in Spin Ghar District of Nangarhar Province over a period of two years, about a total investment of approximately Two million US $. These projects include the construction of 10 check dams, 3 water storage ponds, and 3 headwork, as well as the rehabilitation of 3 irrigation canals and one karez.
Upon the completion of these projects, approximately 305 hectares of farmland will be irrigated, more than 1,200 families will directly benefit, and employment opportunities will be created for hundreds of residents.
